A teenage cancer patient is getting help in paying for treatment from a local photographer and he's using popular photo sharing site Instagram to help raise the money.

Nineteen-year-old Tori Jennings is studying to be a teacher at Bowling Green State University, she's also fighting cancer. Tori was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in April. She receives a chemo treatment every week and the bills are piling up.

"We get bills every day." Tori says. "A lot of them come in my name and I'm like, I can't pay this."

Help came from an unlikely place. Local photographer Eric Shanteau didn't even know Tori, but he's helping to raise money to aid her cause.

"It was important to me to ask to help somebody out." Shanteau says, "I didn't know if I was going to ask other people out. "

Shanteau differs from most photographers in that he only takes photos using the camera on his iPhone 5. He shares those photos with more than 1500 followers using the name hobbes2485 and he sells prints of his art.

Now he's using social media to raise money to help Tori.  On Saturday, phone photographers took a photo walk in Maumee, snapping images around town and hashtagging them with #maumeephotowalk. (Hashtags are a way of classifying images by a particular topic on Instagram)

The photographers met up around 9:30 a.m. at Degage restaurant in Maumee and spent the taking shots of points of interest around town. They uploaded the shots to Instagram.

Shanteau plans to have prints made of the images and sell them at the Maumee Summer Fair with the proceeds going to help Tori.

She's grateful for the support.

"Everyone is doing it for you and you just realize how much love and support you have from everyone around you."
