Family demands justice for murdered man

Posted: Updated:

Christian Snow Veley was laid to rest on Saturday. The Toledo man's body was found inside an abandoned home and now his family say they won't rest until someone is locked up for that crime.

Friends and family came together to pay their final respects for 22-year-old Christian Snow Veley in North Toledo.

Veley went missing in May and his body was discovered inside the basement of an abandoned house on Streicher by demolition crews last week. Veley's body was found in the home at the bottom of some stairs under a blanket. Investigators say he was shot multiple times.

His grandmother China Edwards said, "I am in a lot of pain, my heart is hurting so much. I'm sure his mother's heart is hurting so much. And I think at the end of the day, people don't give lives, so who are they to take it."

Cousin Sparquaja Fields says she'll miss his smile. "His smile was big, like if he just smiled, it would bell all the way up to here. So that's what I'll miss the most."

Veley's family says the funeral didn't bring them any closure and his grandmother is urging the killer to step forward.

"I'll never be happy until I can see your face. And that's truly how I feel. Until I can him in his face know why he did what he did, I'm never going to be a peace with this. Never."

Veley is Toledo's 15th homicide so far this year. If you have any information you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
