Posted: Updated:

A 175th birthday is a very special occasion and folks in Maumee have been celebrating the momentous even all week, wrapping it up with the 36th annual Maumee Summer Fair on Saturday.

Residents like Shirley Brown are enjoying celebrating the city they love. Shirley has lived there for more than 50 years.

"We picked Maumee because we love Maumee. It's just a nice community and they just seem to look out for everyone you know."

Shirley and her family, along with hundreds of others lined the streets for the Saturday morning parade.

Parade-goers like Jenna Chesser say they wouldn't miss it. "I love the parades. I always come down to the parade and seeing my brother, a Maumee firefighter, in the parade is kind of interesting."

The birthday festivities at the summer fair included games, food and crafts.

Residents like Lisa Herrin say events like this bring the community together. "My favorite thing about living in Maumee is kibitzing with the neighbors in the corner watching the parade. It's the best."
