Rally to save dogs set to be put down for killing pigs

Protestors are planning to picket outside the Monroe County Courthouse on Monday to prevent two dogs named Nala and Bugger from being euthanized.

The dogs got loose and are accused of killing two pigs in Lambertville, Michigan in May. The dog's owner says her son forgot to close the front door and the dogs accidentally got out.

According to a police report, Nala and Bugger allegedly attacked two pigs in a barn in Lambertville.

The owner of the pigs claims one dog "charged at her and she was able to use a board to block the dog and keep it secure in the stall."

The dog warden and Bedford Township launched an investigation and ruled the dogs should be euthanized. 

Michigan law states an animal can be euthanized after one attack on poultry or livestock. The family thinks that law is wrong. The dogs are scheduled to die August 22. A Facebook page along with a petition has been launched to save the dogs.

The dogs' owner Jannie Juhasz says the family feels terrible about what happened.

"I want to make it right. I turned it into my insurance company. The insurance company has offered to make her whole. I feel horrible. I don't know what else to say. He means a whole bunch to me, and he's like my kid," says Juhasz.
