Bowling Green State University Football Coach Dave Clawson has announced that Matt Schilz will be the starting quarterback when the Falcons host Tulsa on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. in the season opener.
Schilz, a redshirt senior, has started 35 games at quarterback in his career, including the past 32 in a row. He ranks third in BGSU history with 7,832 career passing yards as well as third with 702 completions. His 50 career touchdown passes are the fifth-most in Bowling Green history.
BGSU Football opens the 2013 season as one of the favorites in the Mid-American Conference and has been picked to win the East Division by Athlon, The Sporting News and Phil Steele. The Falcons were picked to finish second in the division in the MAC Preseason Media Poll.
