ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - Anderson University students are spending time trying to turn garbage into good.
The teens braved raw heat on Friday armed with water bottles, disposable gloves and a garbage bag.
The Herald Bulletin reports more than 400 students volunteered for a new student service project aimed at helping Anderson community schools. The program is built around the university's core values of integrity, responsibility, excellence, servant leadership and generosity.
Eastside Elementary Dean Leah Maxey says she appreciates their efforts.
About 100 students helped clean out a storage area, pick up garbage and lend a hand with custodial tasks at Eastside.
