Stephanie Kipp's nine kills in today's nightcap sweep of No. 17 Hagerstown Community College helped the No. 4 Express volleyball team split a pair of matches on the second day of the Owens Invitational.
Match 1: Iowa Central CC d. Owens 25-14, 25-23, 19-25, 16-25, 15-5
Kipp led the Express with 10 kills, while Kenzie Kleinhenz added seven as the Express nearly came back from down two sets to win today's first match.
Ciarra Wirick led the Express with 22 assists, while Jessica Cooper had 17. They had 39 of the team's 41 assists. In digs, Lisa Urbanski had a team-high 16, while Aricka LaVoy had 10.
Dominique Yates had four blocks (two solo) to lead the team, while Kleinhenz (three assisted) and Jazmine Thomas (three assisted) also contributed.
Match 2: Owens d. No. 17 Hagerstown CC 25-12, 25-9, 25-14
It was all Owens in the second match of the day as Kipp's nine kills led the Express.
Kleinhenz added seven kills, while Wirick (16) and Cooper (12) had 28 of the team's 31 assists. Urbanski had a team-high nine digs, although Cooper (8) was a close second. Bailey Dangler also contributed seven digs.
Kipp also led the team with four blocks (two solo), while Yates and Thomas each had three assisted blocks.
The Express totaled 16 aces in the match, led by five from Wirick and four from LaVoy.
