From BGSU Athletics Director Chris Kingston:
"Following an unpaid, 7-day administrative leave, Bowling Green State University assistant football coach Bill Durkin returned to his duties with the program on Sunday, Sept. 8.
Durkin was disciplined by the University following charges of operating a vehicle under the influence and a subsequent citation in an unrelated incident for driving with a suspended license.
Under the disciplinary agreement for his continued employment, Durkin:
• Will be immediately terminated for any additional criminal violations for alcohol or drug use;
• Must provide documentation to the University that he is permitted by the state to operate a motor vehicle in connection with his coaching duties;
• Must never have more than six points on his driving record over a rolling three-year period;
• Must make two presentations on alcohol and drug awareness to student-athletes and athletic department staff.
In addition, Durkin's salary will be frozen for the next year. He is ineligible for a raise or any bonuses.
The University will have no further comment on this disciplinary matter."
