Mom: Finding Ohio teen's remains provides closure

Posted: Updated:

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - The mother of a teenager whose skeletal remains were found in a northeast Ohio park says the identification provides the family some closure as police investigate the possible homicide.

A medical examiner's office on Wednesday confirmed the remains found a day earlier at Cuyahoga Valley National Park are those of 19-year-old Taylor Robinson. More forensic examination and testing will be done to help determine how the teen died. She went missing from Akron in early May.

Her mother, Carmilla Robinson, says she's grateful to investigators and to the hikers who first spotted a jawbone off a trail and reported it. Searchers later found clothing and additional remains in the area, including a partial skull.

Police are treating the case as a homicide but aren't commenting about potential suspects.
