Ben Torchia (Sylvania, Ohio/Saint Francis H.S.) posted a two-over par 73 on Saturday afternoon in his Lourdes debut, helping the Gray Wolves to a third place finish as a team at the Siena Heights Invitational held at Lenawee Country Club in Adrian, Mich.
Torchia tied Rochester's Chet Ryeson for second place individually, two strokes behind Siena Heights' Alex Willnow, who fired an even par round of 71 on the 6,289-yard course.
The Gray Wolves shot the third best team round in program history, firing a score of 315 to finish just four strokes behind runner-up Rochester in the team standings. Siena Heights won the event shooting 304 while Lourdes was three strokes ahead of Aquinas and Cleary, both of whom tied for fourth.
Brandon Henry (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford H.S.) tied for 11th with a 79 while Jacob VanDyke (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) carded an 81 for the Gray Wolves. Kevin Ritzenthaler (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) rounded out the Lourdes scorers with an 82 while Josh Payzant (Westland, Mich./Orchard Lake Saint Mary's H.S.) posted a 91 in his Gray Wolves' debut.
Lourdes will return to action on Thursday, playing in WHAC Jamboree #2 at Highlands Country Club in Grand Rapids, Mich. Play is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
