Toledo played through wet playing conditions on Sunday to maintain its ninth-place standing entering today's play at Michigan State's Mary Fossum Invitational. The Rockets finished with a team score of 66-over par 930 (312-301-317) and were led by the sophomore tandem of Sathika Ruenreong and Morgan Salm.
Ruenreong carded UT's best round of the day with a four-over par 76 to finish at 16-over par 232 (79-77-76) and tied for 34th place. Salm concluded her first tournament in UT's lineup by matching Ruenreong at 16-over 232 (78-75-79). Sophomore Manisa Isavas also shot a 79 today and tied for 58th place at 24-over par 240 (82-79-79).
Junior Jennifer Elsholz tied for 41st place at 17-over par 233 (77-73-83), while senior Kate Hoops tied for 58th place at 23-over par 239 (78-76-85).
The host Spartans captured the tournament title for the eighth time in the last 11 years at 28-over par 892 (288-296-308), four strokes ahead of Ohio State's total of 32-over par 896 (296-296-304). MSU senior Liz Nagel earned medalist honors at one-over par 217 (68-75-74), three strokes in front of the trio of OSU freshman Illen Domeia (71-73-76=220), Notre Dame junior Ashley Armstrong (76-75-69=220) and Northwestern sophomore Kaitlyn Park (73-74-73=220).
Toledo will now take three weeks off before returning to action for The Preview in Fishers, IN on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7-8.
