Lourdes Women’s Golf Posts Second Best Round in Program History

Lourdes University's women's golf team posted the second best 18-hole round in school history on Saturday afternoon, placing fifth in the second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference jamboree of the season held at Scott Lakes Country Club in Comstock Park, Mich.

The Gray Wolves posted a team total of 347, its best of the season and second best all-time, while finishing just 10 strokes behind fourth place Aquinas and eight shots ahead of sixth place Davenport.  Indiana Tech won the event by shooting 318, five shots ahead of Madonna.

Brooke Darah (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) led the way for Lourdes on Saturday, placing third overall.  She fired a 78, one stroke off of her own school record, and just three shots behind medalist Wiebke Schlender of Indiana Tech.

Heather Steiner (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert H.S.) matched her season's best round with an 84 over the 5,845-yard, par-71 layout.  Danielle Koepke (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) added her best collegiate round ever with a 91 while Kallie Breyfogle (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) and Lindsay Lehman (Sylvania, Ohio/Otsego H.S.) each added rounds of 94.  Haley Steiner (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert H.S.) rounded out the Gray Wolves' lineup with a 104 on Saturday.

Lourdes will return to the links on Monday to compete in the third WHAC jamboree of the season.  The Gray Wolves will play at Sunnybrook Country Club in Grandville, Mich. beginning at 11 a.m.
