Local Red Cross sends volunteer to help flood victims

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

Toledo's Red Cross chapter is sending a disaster relief volunteer to flood ravaged Colorado.

Disaster Action Team member Gary Betway will leave Tuesday morning for Denver.  He will serve as a case manager at the operational headquarters there.  He will assess client needs and connect victims to assistance.

This is not Betway's first time to volunteer to respond to a disaster area.  He assisted with Hurricane Sandy recovery along the east coast in February and has been deployed nearly 40 times around the world.

Betway is a Monroe, Michigan resident.

More than 830 Red Cross workers are helping flood victims recover from the devastating floods that hit Boulder, Estes Park and other locations in Colorado earlier this month.
