Josh Payzant (Ann Arbor, Mich./Orchard Lake Saint Mary's H.S.) and Jordan May (Salem, Ohio/United H.S.) posted top-five finishes each on Friday afternoon to lead Lourdes to a fourth place finish at the Cleary Invitational held at Chemung Hills Golf Course in Howell, Mich.
Payzant carded a 78 to finish in a tie for third place at six-over par, just two strokes behind medalist Jeff Kidd of Cleary and one shot behind runner-up Charlie Holst of Jackson Community College. May turned in a round of 79, a collegiate best, to finish in a tie for fifth place.
The pair was a part of Lourdes "orange" team which turned in a team score of 334 on the afternoon. Lourdes "black" team posted a round of 379 on the afternoon.
Cody Berg (Garrettsville, Ohio/James A. Garfield H.S.) added an 86 for the orange while James Siebert (Toledo, Ohio/Bowsher H.S.) completed the scoring with a 91 over the 6,438-yard, par-72 course. Paul Makulinski (Elmore, Ohio/Woodmore H.S.) added a 99 on the orange squad.
Corey Linser (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) led the black with a 90 on the day while Tony Henry (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford H.S.) added a 95. Nick Flasco (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge H.S.) and Kevin Ritzenthaler (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) both posted rounds of 97 for the afternoon.
Lourdes will have a week off before returning to action next Friday as the Gray Wolves compete at the Owens Invitational. Play is slated to begin at 10 a.m. at Heatherdowns Country Club in Toledo, Ohio.
