Rummage raises big bucks for charity

Posted: Updated:

A local church has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help those in need through a second hand sale. St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee has been hosting rummage sales for almost 90 years. They have two a year and usually raise more than $25,000 annually between the two. Hundreds of volunteers work to make it happen. The church is full of everything from furniture and clothes to baby items and fine china. The best part is that every penny raised goes right into the community. Jane Weber is one of the co-chairs of the rummage sale, "The proceeds do not benefit the church. We give them to charitable organizations in our local region as well as nationally and even internationally."

The sale runs through 7pm Tuesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, which is on the corner of Elizabeth and Wayne streets in Maumee. It also runs Wednesday, October 2 from 9am-1pm. Wednesday is $5 bag day, so there will be some real deals to be had! Any rummage that is not sold is donated to local charities.
