The Bowling Green State University tennis team's run at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships came to an end on Saturday morning (Oct. 12), as the Falcons' two seniors fell in doubles play to the tournament's top-seeded duo.
Nikki Chiricosta and Emily Reuland fell to the University of Michigan duo of Emina Bektas and Brooke Bolender – the top-seeded team in the doubles bracket – by an 8-1 result in the round of 16.
Chiricosta and Reuland, after drawing a first-round bye, had advanced to Saturday's action with a second-round win over the Northwestern team of Lok Sze Leung and Manon Peri on Friday (Oct. 11).
U-M is the host school for this year's regional, which is being held at the Varsity Tennis Center.
In all, the Falcons combined for an overall record of 6-4 at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, with a 5-3 singles record and Chiricosta and Reuland's 1-1 doubles mark. Sophomore Katie Brozovich joined the two seniors in Ann Arbor, as all three players participated in the singles qualifying draw.
