The University of Findlay football team won their third straight game as they defeated Tiffin University by a score of 35-14 on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Frost-Kalnow Stadium in Tiffin, Ohio.
The Oilers turned the ball over three times in the first half, but still entered the break with a 14-7 lead. The two scores came on big plays as junior quarterback Verlon Reed hit freshman wide receiver Luke Hampton for a 53-yard touchdown and the signal caller also threw a 29-yard strike to junior receiver Lloyd Henry.
In the second half, the Oilers drove down the field and settled for a field goal attempt. The 22-yard attempt by sophomore kicker Josh Rode sailed right however and the Dragons took advantage on the ensuing possession with a touchdown drive.
With a tie game at 14-14, Reed connected on a 57-yard touchdown pass to Hampton. The score put the Oilers up 21-14 with 3:13 remaining in the period and gave them momentum heading into the fourth quarter.
The Oilers once again showed off their big play ability early in the fourth quarter when Reed hit senior wide receiver Seth White for a 39-yard touchdown pass. Sophomore running back Daiquone Ford would then find his way into the end zone for a 15-yard scamper to make the score 35-14.
Findlay racked up 533 yards of total offense in the win and averaged 7.6 yards per play. The Oilers threw for 347 yards and also added 186 rushing yards in the game.

Senior tight end Jaryd Brown added four catches for 31 yards as well.
Junior defensive back Feraris Golden led the defense with 11 tackles while senior linebacker Kenny Klatt made ten stops.
Junior defensive lineman Kevin Brewton added six tackles and 1.5 sacks for the Oilers as well.
