The Toledo women's swimming and diving team won its season opener at Denison on Saturday afternoon, 264-150. The Rockets received strong efforts from its group of senior leaders.
Seniors Beth Rogers and Rachel Johnson each finished the day winning three individual events, while Christina Noens and Meredith Gibbon won two individual events apiece. Johnson, Rogers and Gibbon also were a part of two relay wins, while Noens helped the team to one relay victory.
"I'm proud of our senior class for racing with purpose and passion," head coach Chris Peters said. "They'll set the tone for us all season and today they really led the way nicely."
Senior Kristy Richart also placed first in both one-meter and three-meter diving, earning a total of 18 points for UT.
Freshman Jamie Skowronek had an impressive day in her debut in the Midnight Blue & Gold, placed second once and finishing third twice in individual events.
The Rockets open Mid-American Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Buffalo.
