Lourdes Women’s Golf Concludes WHAC Play

Lourdes University concluded the final Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon with the final round of the fourth jamboree, posting a sixth place finish in the 36-hole event.  The final round was played at Hawthorn Hills Golf Club in Lima, Ohio.


The Gray Wolves shot 348 as a team on Saturday for a total of 716, just one stroke behind Davenport for the event.  Lourdes finished three shots ahead of the Panthers in the final round though, helping the Gray Wolves to a fifth place finish overall in combined total of the league's four jamborees.


Heather Steiner (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert H.S.) led the way for Lourdes in the final round, posting an 85, for a 36-hole total of 176 to finish in 17th place overall.  Round one was played at Sylvania Country Club on Friday.


Lindsay Lehman (Sylvania, Ohio/Otsego H.S.) fired her second straight 89 to finish one place behind Steiner overall with a 178 total.  Brooke Darah (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) carded the team's second best total on Saturday with an 86 to finish at 180 overall, one place behind Lehman in the final standings.


Kallie Breyfogle (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) concluded the Lourdes scorers with an 88 for a two-day total of 182.  Roberta Craider (Brecksville, Ohio/Padua Franciscan H.S.) improved by 12 strokes from round one with a 94 on Saturday over the 6,040-yard, par-72 layout.  Haley Steiner (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert H.S.) closed out the Gray Wolves lineup with a 100 in the final round.


Madonna won the two-day event with a 36-hole total of 648, nine strokes ahead of Indiana Tech.  The Crusader fired a final round 310.  Individually, Natalie Blazo won the jamboree with a two-round total of 153 (77-76), three shots ahead of Indiana Tech's Courtney Dye and Wiebke Schlender.


Lourdes will wrap up the 2013 fall season on Sunday afternoon hosting the Lourdes Fall Finale.  Action will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. at Barrington Golf Club in Aurora, Ohio.
