Team Impact visits Northwest Ohio Schools

Posted: Updated:

Students at Glenwood elementary got a special visit from a two time Olympian and former WCW wrester. Chip Minton is a member of Team Impact. He tells 13ABC "We truly believe that if men like team impact don't tell them the truth...another one will come in here and tell them a lie. so we love what we do and go wherever we are called and we encourage them to keep moving forward."

Team Impact members are some of the strongest men in the world. They travel across the globe showing off their strength by performing feats to grab attention... But there's a message behind the might. Jennifer Spoores is the principal at Glenwood elementary. She tells 13ABC,"Your friends are like elevators they can make you go up...or make you go down. I thought that was such a great analogy he used and were going to keep the bat and wire to remind them what we learned today."

Today Chip talked to the kids about making good decisions, having goals and how to deal with bullies. The kids spoke out about an encounter last week, when a 12 year old came up to the schools with a BB gun.

Caleb Parker tells 13ABC, " They just started attacking my friends...I just tried to stay away ..because they took a gun out and they started pointing it at some of my other friends..I just backed up and went to see a teacher..and she came out and stopped the fight."

Asia Horton is also a student who witnessed the chaos. She tells 13 ABC, "It was very bad and sad because how they just came up to the school and just started making a commotion and we didn't do anything to them."It takes strength to break a bat, but it takes strength and courage to do the right thing, even when its hard.A mighty lesson, taught today by a man who knows where true strength comes from.

Team impact will be in action tonight and tomorrow at The Church on Strayer in Maumee. The event is open to the public and starts at 7pm. Admission is free.
