Murder suspect on the run

Posted: Updated:

27-year-old Dimitrias Graves is wanted for murder. He's accused of shooting and killing 22-year-old Mariah Wells. People who live on Spring Street and say they heard the gunshots were afraid to show their faces on camera.

"It sounded like six shots like boom boom boom boom boom," says one resident.

Police say it started with some sort of altercation. Investigators found Wells near the sidewalk.

"I saw them standing on the porch. Then, when I opened the door, I saw the girl laying in the grass," says the resident.

Police say Graves also shot at three other people. They say Erica Elmore sustained a gunshot injury to the eye. According to court documents, the woman tried to get in the car "in an effort to flee."

Neighbors tell 13abc there have been ongoing problems at the duplex where the shooting happened. One neighbor said there was a drive-by shooting recently. She showed us the bullet holes that hit her house. As for last night's deadly shooting, the concerned resident describes it as chilling case of violence.

"It's sad, really sad, 22-year-old dying like that," he says.

Graves is no stranger to police. He's been arrested at least 16 times, according to his jail record.
