Documentary explores murder of Findlay woman

Posted: Updated:

A new film about the murder of a Findlay woman is stirring up controversy.

It's called "Good Night, Sugar Babe" and it explores the murder of Vera Jo Reigle, who was 24 when she was stabbed to death.

CSX workers found her body on a train bridge over the Blanchard River in March of 2011.

The documentary also chronicles the trials of Daniel Bixler, who got a life sentence, and Nicole Peters, who's serving 23 years in connection to the crime.

The movie itself has yet to be shown in Findlay, where the group "Justice for Vera" is calling for further investigation.

Filmmaker David Miles says his work is prompting people to take a closer look into the crime.

"Daniel Bixler and Nicole Peters are convicted and did it and nobody's ever said, 'They got the wrong people,'" explains Miles, "but it's really the murder conspiracy is what the film explores."

The documentary "Goodnight Sugar Babe: the killing of Vera Jo Reigle" is set for a screening Monday, Oct. 28 and again November 4th at Virginia Motion Pictures in North Baltimore.

It will also be shown November 1st and 2nd, at the United Steelworkers union hall in Findlay.

You can hear from filmmaker David Miles on this week's Roundtable with Jeff Smith.

It airs today at noon on 13abc.
