COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say an 8-year-old boy is dead and eight others are injured after an SUV packed with occupants rolled over while exiting Columbus' outer belt.

Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott said the crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. Saturday as the Ford Explorer was leaving I-270 south headed onto State Route 161 in Blendon Township.

Nine people were in the vehicle driven by 20-year-old Tyhuana Henley of Columbus. Police say no one appeared to be wearing a seatbelt.

Eight of the occupants were transported to area hospitals and were in stable condition. An 8-year-old boy was killed. His name was not released.

The accident remains under investigation Sunday. It was unclear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.

The road was temporarily closed as a result of the accident.
