The Adrian College women's volleyball team played their season finale against Saint Mary's Friday night on the road. The match saw the Bulldogs fall down two sets to zero only to fight back and tie the match at 2-2, but then fell in a heartbreaking fifth set to the Belles (11-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 9-15). This loss dropped the Bulldogs to 11-17 on the season and 4-12 in the MIAA.
Adrian fell behind in the match after giving up two separate six-point runs in the first set to allow the Belles to run away to an early 1-0 lead. The second set saw the Belles open up with a seven-point run that the Bulldogs could not recover from as they never gained the lead and fell in the set 25-22 and the match deficit grew to 2-0. Adrian was determined in the third set to keep their season alive as they battled back from a 19-12 set deficit to tie the set at 19-19 and go on to take the set victory at 25-23 on a late three-point run.
The Bulldogs fell behind yet again in the fourth set at 16-10, but once again showed their resiliency as they made a six-point run to tie the set at 16-16. Adrian tied the Belles after a 25-22 set victory due to another late three-point run that broke a 20-20 tie. The Belles took the fifth and final set 15-9 after a four-point run put the set at 8-4 and the Bulldogs could not recover as the fell 3-2 in the match.
Jordan Brisson led the Bulldogs with 13 kills and Linnea Berriman followed closely with 12. Carly Tyson and Nicole Motz contributed to the Bulldog offense as they totaled 19 and 12 assists respectively. Kristi Walker added 23 digs to lead the defense. Tyson, Walker, Ellie Mindick and Nicol Parker were playing in the final match of their careers for the Bulldogs.
