The University of Toledo women's swimming and diving team earned a split in this weekend's dual-meets with a 171-124 victory against Mid-American Conference-rival Ball State, Saturday Nov. 2 at the UT Student Recreation Center. The Rockets took the lead from the beginning and never looked back, winning 11 of 16 events to improve to 2-0 in the MAC.
The Rockets' 400-yard medley relay team consisting of seniors Christina Noens (Indianapolis, IN), Meredith Gibbon (Harrison City, PA) and Beth Rogers (Canton, OH) and sophomore Brooke Edwards (Dundee, MI) kicked off the meet, finishing first with a time of 3:51.88.
Following the relay victory, UT rattled off eight wins in the meet's next ten races.
Sophomore Kristen Nunnelly (Greenwood, IN) continued her early-season success, winning both the 200-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle, her second and third wins of the weekend. Rogers, junior Maria Bargardi (Dearborn Heights, MI) and sophomore Mary Dombkowski (Canton, MI) all earned two individual victories on the day as well.
Freshman Jamie Skowronek (Carmel, IN) recorded the first win of her career in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.00.
The Rockets are off until Saturday, Nov. 16 when they take on Eastern Michigan in their third conference meet of the year at 1:00 p.m. in the UT Student Recreation Center.
