The University of Findlay men's soccer team lost to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Malone University 5-4 in overtime on Sunday, November 3 in Canton, Ohio.
The Oilers jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior Alex Oliver scored at the 7 minute mark.
The Pioneers tied it up when Kelvin Aquino scored at the 16 minute mark. His goal was assisted by Josh Abend and Rubern Miranda.
The Oilers quickly regained the lead when senior Bryan Klek scored off of an assist by Oliver at the 17 minute mark. Then, at the 45 minute mark, the Oilers extended their lead when sophomore Ryan Poyle scored off of an assist by sophomore Mark Sleasman.
The Pioneers bounced back when Aquino scored his second goal of the contest off of an assist by Felipe Delgado at the 51 minute mark. Then, at the 56 minute mark, Aquino scored his third goal of the game off of an assist by Abend.
The Oilers regained the lead when Poyle scored his second goal of the contest off of an assist by Sleasman at the 61 minute mark.
The Pioneers tied it up again when Sam Tonelli scored off of an assist by Luan Tofani at the 77 minute mark.
The game-winning goal occurred in overtime for the Pioneers when Delgado scored off of an assist by Stephen Wannah at the 93 minute mark.
The Pioneers had the edge offensively with a 20-16 advantage in shots.
Findlay goalkeepers Alex Jurek and Joe McClanahan took the loss in the net and had a combined six saves in the process.
The Oilers conclude their season with a 5-11-1 overall record and a 3-11 mark in GLIAC play.
