Perrysburg council approves preliminary Costco plans

Posted: Updated:

Plans for a new Costco in Perrysburg are moving forward. The warehouse is tentatively coming to the Eckle Junction Road and State Route 25 intersection, right off I-475.

Many residents say they're glad to get the big box store, but they worry traffic could become a nightmare. The new store could open next year.

As of now, the Costco at Secor and Central is the only one in the Toledo area. But Perrysburg leaders approved Thursday night the preliminary plans to add another store on North Dixie Highway.

Costco wants to build a 150,000 square-foot store and gas station in Perrysburg.

Shoppers will be able to access the store from both Eckle Junction Road and Route 25.

Costco leaders say they're willing to install new traffic signals on some surrounding streets to fight congestion.

City leaders still have to approve final plans for the warehouse giant, which should happen around mid-January.
