Steven King and Angela Steinfurth indicted

Posted: Updated:

Angela Steinfurth indicted for murder and Steven King for aggravated murder in the death of Toledo toddler Elaina Steinfurth.

The news is coming as a relief to many, regardless of whether they knew Elaina's family.

Chris Whitaker, who lives in east Toledo told 13abc, "I'm glad to see that justice hopefully will prevail and they'll get what's coming to them."

"Poor baby, she can't defend herself," Claudia Halliday, who lives in east Toledo said.

Monday, a Grand Jury indicted Steinfurth on murder charges, while King faces more serious charges of aggravated murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

All of this taking place, just 6 months after the toddler was reported missing.

"The day we found out that they found her we were just devastated," Jennifer Stevens, an east Toledoan said.

Toledo Police found Elaina's remains in September.   She was in a box, in the rafters of a garage on Federal street.

The Lucas County Coroner ruled her death a homicide, but has not specified a cause of death.

The autopsy report shows Elaina suffered five broken bones.

"I have children of my own and I can't imagine putting them out in the cold, let alone murder," Dawn Kurek, an east Toledoan said.

Steinfurth and King are set to appear in front of a judge on Tuesday.

Toledo Police and the prosecutors office are also expected to address the case.
