Typewriters and a desk from the home of the original author of the Nancy Drew mystery books, along with a book detailing how the series was created, were auctioned in Ohio on Sunday.

Mildred Wirt Benson died in 2002, but she led an amazing life. "Millie" Benson wrote 23 of the original Nancy Drew Mysteries, became a pilot and a columnist.

Now Jade Montrie's Auction House is offering a treasure trove of literary and Toledo history including the desk at which she wrote many of her books.

Nancy Drew fan clubs and collectors are expected to show up in droves to bid on Benson's belongings.

Her typewriter is already in the Smithsonian and now fans will have a chance to big on everything from her private collection of books to Edgar Allen Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America.

The true identity of Nancy Drew author Carolyn Keene was a secret for decades because Benson was hired by the publisher to write stories under a pen name.

Her husband George Benson was the editor of the Toledo Times and there are also scrapbooks of his writings on the auction block.
