President Obama says Obamacare is working

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON, D.C. (12/08/2013) - President Obama is on a three-week campaign, assuring the American people healthcare.gov is better than ever, and the Affordable Care Act is working.

But Dr. Robert Moffit, from conservative think-tank The Heritage Foundation, says the Affordable Care Act is a bad law.

"It's not a web site problem, it's not a rhetorical problem, it's not a messaging problem," he said. "It's a question of getting the incentives right for the system to work. And the Affordable Care Act does not do that."

President Obama says his health care law is working. He says he hears the complaints, but insists things are improving.

Dr. Moffit says the President can talk about how the law will benefit Americans, but he's not delivering on his promises.

"The president is one of the best campaigners we've ever had in public life. He's outstanding at doing campaigning," said Moffit. "The problem with the president is he's not good at governing. This is a government problem, this is a governing issue."

On Wednesday, House members held three separate committee hearings on the Affordable Care Act, a sign Republicans aren't ending their fight against it. But President Obama says no matter how much opposition the law faces, it's not going away.

"I will work with anybody to implement and improve this law effectively," President Obama said at a news conference on Tuesday. "You've got good ideas, bring 'em to me, let's go. But we're not repealing it as long as I'm president."

While the battle over health care is expected to continue on Capitol Hill, the deadline for people to sign up for a plan is fast approaching. December 23rd is the final day to sign up if you want coverage to begin on January 1st.
