Water main break floods businesses

Posted: Updated:
Toledo, OH -

The dollar floor store is one business that had loads of inventory sitting in 9 inches of cold muddy water this Thursday morning and the clean up may take weeks. Temperatures Thursday morning fell to 3 degrees in Toledo. The cold weather causes the ground to shift which causes cracks on water mains. This particular water main break was the largest the city has had all month. The jets of water flooded the road along Laskey near Jackman road. The water blocked traffic for a time, created mounds of ice and flooded the Dollar Floor store nearby.

Before the 10 foot section of the water main was replaced, nearly 9 inches of water flooded the store and now the closed sign is up. The business could stay closed for a couple weeks for clean up. As the temperature drops, more water mains could pop. In the mean time, a water boil advisory remains in effect through December 15th along west Laskey road near the break site.
