More rain will fall overnight, flooding and fog a concern

Posted: Updated:
Toledo, OH -

Many areas have already received more than one inch of rainfall Saturday.  More rain will continue Saturday night as a second system begins its track closer to Ohio and Michigan.

We're right on the border-line between very cold rain and freezing rain.  Adrian is down to 33° and Toledo Express is at 34°.  Those readings came at 7:00 p.m. EST Saturday night.  If you're out late Saturday, there will be some slick spots and lots of ponding water.

This is not just for Toledo; we've heard reports about ponding over most of the area.  Freezing rain is possible during the early overnight but we're mostly expecting very cold rain.  Michigan has the best chance to see that frozen mix, so keep that in mind.

Visibility will also be an issue out on the roads.  With a melting snowpack and saturated air, fog is a big concern.  In addition to that, temperatures will rise through the early morning as the warm part of the next storm approaches.  In short, conditions will be rough on the roads overnight.

As expected, the National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning (Areal) for much of our coverage area.  The Blanchard at Findlay is still expected to become a "major flood."  The newest river gauge forecast has the river cresting at 15.5', which is three feet short of the record.
