Suspect arrested after leading police on a foot chase

Posted: Updated:
DUNDEE, Mich. -

A 27 year old Dundee man is behind bars at the Monroe County Jail where he will await charges for Resisting and Obstructing , Domestic Violence, and several warrants.

According to police, an officer responded to the 500 block of Main St December 25th on a report of a man possibly holding his mother hostage. Officials discovered that he was wanted on several warrants; one out of Dundee, and two from Northern Michigan. When officers arrived the suspect fled on foot out the back door of the residence. The officer attempted to taze the fleeing suspect, but due to heavy winter clothing the taser was not effective. The foot pursuit continued south from the residence to the River Raisin, where the officer broke through the thin ice on the River, but was able to continue the chase. The suspect then turned back north and continued through the parking lot of St Irene's Catholic Church and across Main St. The foot pursuit continued north through numerous residences yards, and across Van Nest St. and back through more private yards to the 500 block of Adams St. where the suspect was finally taken into custody hiding on the front porch of a private home.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Dundee Police at 734-529-3430, or Central Dispatch at 734-243-7070.
