Shooting investigation on Ida-Maybee Road in Exeter Township

Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone is reporting the investigation of a shooting incident that occurred on the 8000 block of Ida-Maybee Road in Exeter Twp, Monroe County.

Shortly after midnight on December 27, 2013 Monroe County Central Dispatch received a call from a home on Ida-Maybee Rd. THe caller indicated that her 27-year-old son had a gun and was "acting crazy." Members of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Uniformed Services DIvision responded. While en route, it was learned there was an ongoing domestic violence incident and a 24-year-old female may have been shot.

Once deputies were on scene, they determined there was a fight occurring in one of the home's bedrooms. Deputies made entry into the home and apprehended the 27-year-old male without incident. At that time, it was learned the 24-year-old female had been shot in the thigh with a shotgun. The victim's injuries did not appear to be life threatening and she was transported to an area hospital for treatment. 

Through the subsequent investigation, it was learned the 27-year-old male the 24-year-old female are currently living together at the residence and the shotgun discharged during an argument.

The 27-year-old male was lodged at the Monroe County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation by Deputy Doug Bender, Detective Jeff Smith, and Detective Matt Brodie. Anyone with information should call 734-240-7700, 734-240-7548, or 734-240-7440.
