Shoppers flock to stores for winter supplies

Posted: Updated:

The latest winter weather wallop sent many Northwest Ohio residents to the closest stores to get supplies.  Leaders at the Lowe's in Perrysburg said they already had to reorder salt and snow blowers because of the growing demand.

"The last three years we haven't had this much snow," says assistant store manager, Denny Willeke. "People are kind of in panic mode."

Customers say the last two winters have left them unprepared for the serious snow that hit at the beginning of the year.

"I shoveled this morning, and when I got home I had to shovel again," says Joey Jordan who was buying a snow blower. "It's hard work with this much snow."

Others say it was getting stuck that got them moving.  One Perrysburg man said he was barely able to get out of his driveway because of the snow."

"I came to get a shovel for the garage and the driveway and a smaller one to keep in the car in case I end up in a snowdrift somewhere," says Benjamin Galandiuk.

Residents say the worst part is knowing this may not be the end.

"I don't mind the snow but when it comes like this, it's no fun," says Rick Miesle, also buying a snow blower.
