Public receives alerts about winter storms

Posted: Updated:
Toledo, OH -

People have been watching out for this one for days.  A major arctic blast is predicted to arrive Sunday afternoon and evening and make for a miserable Monday.

Dozens of churches cancelled Sunday services in anticipation.  ODOT and local governments prepared in advance to handle yet another round of heavy snow.  Utility companies were watching carefully as sustained heavy winds up to 45 mph could cause problems.

13abc is also preparing to help keep the public informed with the latest information.  Meteorologists Ross Elett and Ben Cathey were on duty Sunday morning and briefed viewers on 13abc, 13abc.com and on social media.  Later, Meteorologists Jay Berschback and Kelly Heidbreder will be providing updates at the top of each hour on 13abc.  Meteorologist Bill Spencer takes over with hourly updates at Midnight through Monday morning joined by Ross Ellet.  In addition to 13abc's Storm Team, live reporters will be positioned throughout the viewing area to give viewers the latest data on travel conditions.  13abc is also ready to provide any school delays or cancellations on Monday.  Newscasts will be expanded as needed Sunday and Monday and regular programming could be altered.

13abc is also working with our media partner, the Toledo Blade, to provide news about the storm.
