Kids take advantage of snow for winter fun

Posted: Updated:

While adults are worried about the approach of winter weather, some local kids took the opportunity to have fun in the snow before it gets too cold to play outside.

At Maumee's Side Cut Metropark dozens of kids hit the sledding hill.

Lucas Klotz took advantage of the weather to build his first snowman in years.  The 12-year-old said, The last time was probably when I was like five or six. It wasn't good snow like this."

Parent Lisa Rocco said, "We're trying to have some fun before we get stuck in the house all day."

It might be awhile before kids can head back to the park. The Metroparks will remain closed as long as Lucas County is under a level 3 snow emergency.
