Forward Louis-Marc Aubry scored a power play goal early in the third period to lift Toledo to a 5-3 win over Reading at the Huntington Center Friday night. Toledo has an overall record of 10-16-3-0 and is 7-6-0-0 at home this season.
Marek Tvrdon would fire in a quick wrist shot at 2:25 of the first period to give Toledo a 1-0 lead on his 9th goal of the year. The Royals would tie the game at 1 when Ryan Cruthers deflected a shot off of goaltender Hannu Toivonen at 5:44. Defenseman Richard Nedomlel wristed a shot past Reading goaltender Brandon Anderson for his 3rd goal of the year at 9:42 of the first period to put the Walleye in front 2-1.
"Offensively we were strong tonight," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "The effort was there for the word go and we did the things necessary late in the game to preserve the win."
After Reading tied the game at two, Toledo's Joe Gleason blasted a shot from the blue line the eluded the Reading goaltender at 10:01 of the second period for his 2nd goal of the year. The Royals would come back again to tie the game when Sean Wiles scored just 17 seconds later. With Toledo on the power play in the third period, Louis-Marc Aubry (4th) wristed a one-timer past Anderson at 6:43 of the third period. Trevor Parkes (16th) would add in an empty net goal to cap the scoring.
Walleye Notes: Goaltender Hannu Toivonen made 22 saves on 25 shots in net for Toledo. Toivonen has a record of 5-7-0-0 this year. Both of defenseman Joe Gleason's goals this year have come against Reading. Toledo has won four of the last five home games.
