Bowling Green State University junior forward Richaun Holmes was recognized by CollegeHoopsDaily.com (www.collegehoopsdaily.com) as one of top-five players from the Mid-American Conference thus far this season over the non-conference slate.
Holmes was joined on the MAC team by Chris Fowler (Central Michigan), Julius Brown (Toledo), Javon McCrea (Buffalo) and Shayne Whittington (Western Michigan).
Holmes is having a strong junior season for the Falcons, as he leads the team in scoring with 14.2 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding with an average of 7.5 boards per contest. The 6-8 forward also leads the team in blocked shots with 40 on the season and in both field goal percentage at 55.3 percent and free throw percentage at 74.3 percent on the year.
Not only does he lead the team in blocked shots, but also is tops in the MAC with an average of 3.1 blocks per contest, which also ranks in the top-20 in the nation among all NCAA Division I programs.
Holmes also ranks in the top-10 in the MAC in scoring (T-9th), rebounding (7th), field goal percentage (7th) and in defensive rebounds (5th). He also ranks 12th in offensive rebounds and 15th in free throw percentage.
Holmes and the Falcons (6-7) will open up MAC play on Wednesday, Jan. 8, versus the Eagles of Eastern Michigan at 7 p.m. in the Stroh Center.
