Lucas Co. down to Level 2 Snow Emergency

Posted: Updated:

Lucas County moved to a Level 2 Snow Emergency at 11 p.m. Tuesday night, but Sheriff John Tharp is still urging people to stay off the expressways, as black ice continues to be a danger.

He says drivers should take alternate routes if possible.

"The streets appear to be passable, but they're dangerous," Sheriff Tharp says. "They are totally, totally unsafe. Somebody's going to end up getting killed by being on these highways.  The expressway is especially the concern that I have."

The sheriff says, if you have to use the expressway, take it extremely slow.
