Titanic: The Artifacts Exhibition cruising into Imagination Station

Posted: Updated:

Mountains of snow piled high all over town might remind you of icebergs.

Coincidentally, there's an exhibit headed to the Imagination Station that has a lot to do with one big iceberg.

February 15th, 2014, prepare for a voyage back to April 14th, 1912.

That's the day the most luxurious ocean liner the world had ever seen hit an iceberg and sank.

Titanic: The Artifacts Exhibition will dock at the Imagination Station thanks to support from the community and sponsors such as 13abc.

"It's considered a blockbuster for us," said Lori Hauser, Director of the Imagination Station. "We're very excited and we would not be able to do it without that support."

Your tour will start with a boarding pass, pairing you with an actual passenger.

You'll then follow in that person's footsteps through recreations of third-class "steerage" to first-class staterooms.

There will also be artifacts retrieved during expeditions two and a half miles below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean.

Plus, local artifacts from Maumee Valley Historical Society.

"Well, there are some people from northwest Ohio who perished on the Titanic as well as people who had relatives who did," explains Michelle Klinger, who's a volunteer with Maumee Valley Historical Society. "So, there's some neat stories and Maumee Valley Historical Society has some artifacts that they've managed to gather through the years."

Of course, there will be a science component as well. This is, after all the Imagination Station.

You'll have four months to learn more about the collision course that sealed the Titanic's fate and claimed the lives of more than 1500 souls on board.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition opens February 15th and runs through mid-June.

It will have an "up charge"of $6.50 for adult members of the Imagination Station.

Tickets are available right now on the Imagination Station website: www.imaginationstationtoledo.org

13abc is a proud sponsor of Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition.
