Miss Representation screening at library

Posted: Updated:

A screening of Miss Representation at the Toledo-Lucas County Main Library highlighted concerns over the way women are portrayed in magazines, TV and film.

Following the screening, community forums were held to discuss sexism and ways to empower women.

Ladonna Knabbs, founder of My Sister's House For Girls said, I'm hoping that they make better decisions. I'm hoping that they look at things differently. When they see things that are in the magazines or in the movies or on television that they make a different decision and that they stand up and say, 'That's not what a woman looks like,' 'that's not what a woman should be.'"
