E-cycling drive held in Maumee

Posted: Updated:

ITT Technical Instituted teamed up with Aim E-cycling to collect electronic waste on Saturday in Maumee.

They collected old computers, printers, monitors, radios and more.

Jeff Norden from Aim said old electronics pose dangers. "The batteries and monitors and stuff like that, they contain lead and mercury so you don't want those heavy metals in the landfills that eventually could leach into your water supply."

Las year's event brought in about 5,000 pounds of electronics. This year's organizers hope to double that.
