The University of Findlay men's basketball team claimed a 72-65 win over Wayne State University on Saturday, Jan. 11 in Croy Gymnasium.  The victory gives the Oilers a 9-3 record on the season with a 5-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers trailed the Warriors 34-33 at the break, but junior forward Jake Heagen drilled a three pointer on the Oilers second possession of the second half to give Findlay the lead for good.  The Oilers would then extend their lead to as many as 11 points in the second period as they picked up their second straight win.

Findlay only shot 39.2 percent (20-of-51) from the floor, but they forced the Warriors into 16 turnovers in the game.  The Oilers also converted 26-of-38 (68.4%) shot attempts from the free throw line and blocked eight shots in the victory.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig led Findlay with 27 points on 9-of-19 shooting.  He also added four rebounds, two assists and a block in the game.

Sophomore guard Alphonso Baity had 14 points, five rebounds, two assists and a block while Heagen had 13 points, four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.

Bryan Coleman led the Warriors with 25 points, hitting 10-of-18 shot attempts in the game.

The Oilers will return to action again next Thursday when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio Dominican University at 7:30 p.m.
