Talking Toledo at the Auto Show

Posted: Updated:

The North American International Auto Show opened to the media today. Thousands of journalists from around the world are getting the first look at hundreds of new models. The Toledo-built Cherokee and Wrangler are both a big part of the Jeep display. Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne says he is encouraged by the Cherokee's sales numbers in its first two full months of sales, but he does not think the vehicle is where it should be when it comes to market share. He says future growth will include expansion in international markets. He also talked about plans to increase output at the Wrangler plant and he says that may include expanding the building, but no final decisions have been made at this point. They will also likely make a decision within the first quarter of this year about the upcoming redesign of the Wrangler and production should begin within two years.
