Some Wood County roads still rough going for drivers

Even though there wasn't an official snow emergency in Wood County on Sunday, there were still some very bad driving conditions for drivers to cope with.

The sun was shining and very little snow was falling, but heavy winds blew existing snow onto the roads.

William Landon got stuck in the snow on the side of the highway for more than two and a half hours on Sunday and he wasn't the only one.  A total of six drivers slid off I-75 NB in just a two mile stretch.

"Within a minute of me sliding off, they slid off and that young woman went over the median. So thank God, she didn't come into our side of the road. It was a little terrifying." Landon recalled.

Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn says while it's not  an official snow emergency in Wood County, drivers still need to be very cautious. "Drive for the conditions. If you slow down, you'll do fine. It's when you're going too fast and you hit a bit of a drift or you run into ice or snow and you try to take evasive action, that's when problems start."

The Sheriff said he was confident that condition would improve later on Sunday as winds were expected to die down.
