Toledo Police: Teen lied about bus stop assault

Posted: Updated:

Toledo police say a 14-year-old girl who reported she was assaulted at a downtown bus stop lied.  The report was originally made January 16.  Investigators say the girl told them she was waiting for the bus near the Macomber building when a man grabbed and robbed her and tried to sexually assault her.

However, after an investigation, officers say certain facts from the girl do not match up with evidence uncovered by police.  They add that the information the teen gave police to create a suspect sketch is false, and the image does not depict a real person.

The girl is now facing a falsification charge.  The investigation is ongoing.
