Coroner's Report on Fallen Firefighters

The Lucas County coroner this afternoon released the cause of death for the two Toledo firefighters who perished in the line of duty on Sunday.

In a news release signed by Coroner Dr. James Patrick and Deputy Coroner Dr. Cynthia Beisser, the coroner ruled that James Dickman and Stephen Machcinski died of thermal burns and exposure to carbon monoxide.

The two died while fighting a North Toledo apartment complex fire over the weekend.

The coroner is awaiting the results of routine toxicology tests.
