TPS Calamity Days

Toledo Public Schools today said it has a plan to make up school days that have been lost because of the weather.

So far, TPS has used seven calamity days.  That's two more than the State of Ohio currently permits school districts to use without making up the time.

The district says it's developing a strategy that allows students to make up three calamity days, per the Ohio Department of Education's Waiver Request.

In early April, TPS will distribute "Blizzard Bags" that will include enrichment material or new material for students to complete.  Students must complete the work in order to be marked as in attendance for the days that have been missed.  Copies of the take-home assignments will be distributed to all students and the information will be posted on the district's web site.

Superintendent Romules Durant will hold a news conference Wednesday January 29th at 10:30am introducing the plan.
