Red Wings Assign Mikael Samuelsson to Grand Rapids

The Detroit Red Wings reassigned right wing Mikael Samuelsson to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins.

Samuelsson, 37, has recorded one goal and two assists in 26 games with the Red Wings this season. A 2008 Stanley Cup champion with Detroit, Samuelsson has tallied 68 goals and 95 assists in 308 games with the Red Wings in six seasons with the club (2005-09, 2012-14). In all, the winger has totaled 149 goals and 197 assists in 699 games throughout his 12-year NHL career. Samuelsson is also a member of the ‘Triple Gold Club,' helping Sweden to Olympic gold in 2006 and World Championship gold in 2008, along with his Stanley Cup championship in 2008.
